Stained Glass Window Auction

Windows from the Simpson Metro West building sanctuary

These stained Glass Windows were designed and created by SMW member, Edward J. Groening and were dedicated on April 17, 2005. There are two types of windows included here:

1) Windows that represent Jesus’ disciples. These windows measure 39 in. wide by 19 in. tall.

2) Windows that represent biblical stories and the church calendar. These windows measure 39 in. wide by 27 in. tall.

The windows were removed from the building after the building was put up for sale.

The windows available in this auction remain after the windows were offered to the families who sponsored each window when they were made and after SMW members were given an opportunity to select a window.

The money raised from this auction will help to support Westlake’s ongoing ministry and mission on the Westside of Cleveland.

This is a lower panel stained glass window from Simpson UMC. It is 39 in wide by 19 in tall. It was handmade by Simpson UMC member Ed Groening.

From the included label: “The brother of James, John may be the disciple as the one whom Jesus loved (John 19:26). He may be the only disciple not martyred. He may have lived to an old age. One traditional story about John wa that he was given poisoned wine to drink and was not harmed by it. The serpent won the shield symbolizes the poisoned drink, and the cup suggests Jesus’ words to John about the cup of suffering (Mark 10:38).”
