These stained Glass Windows were designed and created by SMW member, Edward J. Groening and were dedicated on April 17, 2005. There are two types of windows included here:
1) Windows that represent Jesus’ disciples. These windows measure 39 in. wide by 19 in. tall.
2) Windows that represent biblical stories and the church calendar. These windows measure 39 in. wide by 27 in. tall.
The windows were removed from the building after the building was put up for sale.
The windows available in this auction remain after the windows were offered to the families who sponsored each window when they were made and after SMW members were given an opportunity to select a window.
The money raised from this auction will help to support Westlake’s ongoing ministry and mission on the Westside of Cleveland.
This is a lower panel stained glass window from Simpson UMC. It is 39 inches wide by 19 in tall. It was handmade by Simpson UMC member Ed Groening.
From the included label: “This James is sometimes called James the Less, or James the younger. Traditions about James differ, some saying that he was thrown off the temple, stoned and then cut into pieces. Other traditions say that James was crucified in Lower Egypt. The saw reminds us that James was another disciple who became a martyr because of his love for Jesus.
