HOW DO I CONNECT?

There are a variety of ways to connect with God and the people of Westlake United Methodist Church, and we hope that you will choose to do so. We strive to help people discover and utilize their unique skills, energy, and spiritual gifts. Here are some of the ways you might choose to connect:

Choose a worship service and come visit. Tell the greeter at the door that you’re a first time visitor and pick up a welcome kit. Remember to stay around for coffee hour where you can meet some of our church family and get your questions answered.

Add your voice to one of our choirs, pick up a handbell or play an instrument.

There’s a small group waiting to include you at Westlake United Methodist Church. Beyond Sunday morning, the church has a variety of study and social groups (including Life Groups), as well as groups established around interests and hobbies.

We are an active and generous mission oriented congregation. If your heart is calling you to serve others, Westlake United Methodist Church can connect you to hands on mission opportunities. Some of these include: “Volunteer in Mission” projects – hands-on work projects locally, nationwide, and throughout the world. Our congregation is particularly passionate about assisting orphanages in Russia and supporting United Methodist clinics in Africa, as well as The Nehemiah Mission in downtown Cleveland, Community Corner emergency food pantry and resale shop on Cleveland.s near west side. Flat Rock Homes and Care Center, a residential care facility for children and young adults with mental retardation and developmental disabilities. Westside Community House, inner-city agency serving low-income neighborhood families with child care, senior programs, meals on wheels, and other programs Read more about Mission & Justice programs at WUMC.

Throughout the year, we host activities to enrich the lives of all who attend. Special holiday services, concerts, Vacation Bible School, and more. Check the special events section of this website or the latest church newsletter for upcoming events.

We have teams and volunteers that support all areas of ministry and welcome new people into these teams all the time. Westlake UMC actively supports the discovery of Spiritual Gifts as a way to help you find where your gifts and passions might be leading you.

You are not required to become a member to participate in the life of our church, but we encourage you to consider membership. Members are people who commit to supporting the church with their prayers, presence, gifts and service. Membership is encouraged as a way to publicly witness to the importance of the faith journey in your life and to acknowledge your reliance on others who are on the journey as well. To find out more about becoming a member contact Ellie Peiffer or sign up to attend one of our new member inquiry classes.

The United Methodist Church is made up of people from around the world. Visit www.umc.org for information on our global church, our faith, our history as a denomination and connect to the many ministries of one of the largest protestant religions in America.
